Megaraptor Encounter
The Experience
Experience the awe and wonder of Australia’s ancient giants in this unique, heart-pounding encounter with a massive moving, roaring, dinosaur!
Much like a zoo’s live dangerous animal demonstration Megaraptor Encounter is a thrilling 30 minute live show offering a heart-pounding, up-close experience with a life-sized, moving, roaring Australovenator—an Australian Megaraptor.

Unlike animatronic displays, this dinosaur behaves like a real animal, complete with lifelike movements, roars, and instincts. A dinosaur keeper in safety gear introduces the event before the 2.4m tall creature makes her dramatic entrance, stalking and snarling within her space.
Audiences learn about Australia’s fascinating paleontological history while witnessing the unpredictability and realism of this unique dinosaur — Australia’s only full-legged hybrid dinosaur puppet.

About the experience
It starts as you assemble around a low safety barrier, waiting for the encounter to begin. As you wait you hear sounds from inside the enclosure like a large animal breathing, and huffing. The sound is familiar – it is an animal – but at the same time unusual.
The keeper enters the enclosure, introducing themselves and welcoming you to the event – you notice they are wearing safety gear.

Before long they introduce the star of the show – a 2.4m tall Australovenator – a species of Australian Megaraptor. Armed with sharp, curved claws on both her hands and toes, you watch this prehistoric creature stalk her space right before your eyes, all while learning about the incredible dinosaurs found in Australia.
Once the megaraptor has calmed down, visitors can of course take photos with her – if they’re brave enough!

This exciting experience focuses uniquely on Australian dinosaurs and features a ‘full-legged’ hybrid dinosaur puppet – the only one of its kind in Australia.
An engaging experience, this is a living, breathing, moving Megaraptor. It is scary, unpredictable, and exciting. This dinosaur is not trained to do tricks and – despite what films might tell you – her vision is NOT based on movement.
She can see you.
Who is the experience for?
- Adventure-seeking families: Families with primary and high school-aged children. May be frightening for young children and some people (show includes loud noises, fast movements).
- Jurassic lovers: Fans of the universes of Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. Includes teens and adults, especially Millennials and Gen X. The latest instalment, Jurassic World Rebirth, is premiering in 2025.
- Dinosaur lovers: Adults and children fascinated by dinosaurs (and near relatives – birds, reptiles etc.).
Dinosaurs are hugely popular, experiencing a massive resurgence following the Jurassic Park/World films from the last 30+ years – try entering a store without being bombarded with dinosaur themed merchandise! Tapping into this zeitgeist, the Megaraptor Encounter has several key selling points:
- it is realistic
- it is engaging
- and it features Australian Dinosaurs
Megaraptor Encounter features Australian dinosaurs. Australia has its own amazing dinosaurs and a rich paleontological history that is little known, but extremely exciting, and is booming right now with the continued discovery of new, wonderful dinosaurs.
